Gravitas & MoB move on from group A

Group a at Extreme Masters III Continental Finals Americas concludes with Gravitas filling out their favorite role, while Evil Geniuses gets a ticket home and MoB Gaming move on to the playoffs.

Playoffs at Extreme Masters III Continental Finals Americas will be happening tomorrow with four teams fighting out for the two spots for the Extreme Masters III Global Finals in March 2009. Group a should see three American teams fighting for two spots in the playoffs. With the absence of n0thing, Evil Geniuses lacked one of the forces that should lead them to the playoffs. Gravitas Gaming showed they had it all figured out with two wins out of two possible.

It should all come down to the match MoB Gaming versus Evil Geniuses, to determine who would move on to the playoffs alongside with Gravitas Gaming. The all important knife round secured MoB Gaming the all dominant CT side on train. MoB Gaming executed the CT side just perfectly, not letting anything go to Evil Geniuses without a fight for it. First side went to a well playing MoB Gaming with 12:3.

Evil Geniuses needed the CT pistol round in order to keep their chances of advancing. This did however not happen as only hostilE was able to pick off two, while the remains of MoB eliminated evolution and hostilE. Armed with deagles Evil Genuises brought the score to 1:1 by winning the second round. With two lost eco rounds, MoB Gaming was back on track in the fourth round, tricking Evil Geniuses with a plant on the outer-bombspot, while Evil Geniuses went towards the inner-bombspot. This once again set Evil Geniuses back money-wise and MoB succeeded in gathering the last rounds to secure a 16:6 win.

The playoffs will be played best of one map and double elimination style. All matches besides the grand final will be played Saturday, while the grand final will be played Sunday at 17:00 CET.
